Educational institute fined

GUWAHATI, June 22 - The Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) today fined another educational institute of the city for operating without a trade licence.

The GMC imposed a penalty of Rs 2,02,200 for running the school without obtaining trade licence by RJ Junior College in Beltola. A team of GMC under the guidance and supervision of its Commissioner Devajyoti Hazarika inspected schools, colleges and other trade premises in Beltola area.

A source in the GMC said, �This drive was carried out for examining the systems of solid waste management including inspection of property tax, trade licence, building permission, parking of school buses, general cleanliness of schools, colleges, etc.�

Moreover, a seven-day notice period is served to Sudarshan Public School, Beltola, as the school authority could not produce documents related to trade licence. Earlier, on June 15, GMC imposed a penalty of Rs 6,46,740 for non-renewal of licence and other irregularities by St Francis De Sales Higher Secondary School in Satgaon.
