Education Minister visits Dhubri�s BN College

DHUBRI, Nov 28 - State Education Minister Siddhartha Bhattacharya visited BN College in Dhubri recently and praised the college authorities for their proper utilisation of funds.

The Education Minister inaugurated a conference room and a gymnasium of the college apart from taking part in the foundation stone laying ceremony of a lab and a classroom to be constructed at a cost of Rs 1 crore. In his address, the Minister said the college has properly utilised the funds allotted under the Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA)-I and it has also qualified for RUSA-II funding of the same amount. He also added that the premier institution of western Assam has brought glory to the State by attaining NAAC accreditation of B++.

�I have visited various educational institutions of the State and outside, but the discipline of the students of this college is commendable,� the Education Minister said. He also praised the active participation of BN College students in NCC activities and their representation in various national forums.

�Looking at various aspects of the college and its potential, we have decided to provide an amount of Rs 1 crore for the construction of an indoor stadium and Rs 2.5 crore for a new auditorium,� said Bhattacharya.

The programme was also attended by MLA Aswini Roy Sarkar and Ashok Singhi along with Deputy Commissioner Anant Lal Gyani and ADC Animesh Talukder.
