Education Minister unveils Dr Kalam�s bust at RGU

GUWAHATI, Sept 4 - Education Minister Siddhartha Bhattacharya unveiled the bust of Bharat Ratna, former President APJ Adul Kalam at the Royal Global University today, according to a press release.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister Bhattacharya, who was also the chief guest of the function, expressed gratitude to the RGU authorities for inviting him to unveil the bust of one of his role models. He shared words of wisdom with the students about lessons learnt from the life of Dr Kalam.

Bhattacharya said that the humility behind the �Missile Man� was not only legendary, but it came from within the heart. He exemplified the leader for his humility by saying, �Even when he reached the top of India�s ruling class, he still remained a humble man at heart.�

The Minister unveiled the bust in the presence of RGU Chancellor AK Pansari, Pro-Chancellor AK Modi, Vice Chancellor Prof SP Singh, Registrar Angira Mimani, Executive Vice President Ankur Pansari, professors and students.

To mark the occasion, a sapling was planted by the chief guest. This was followed by a Ganesh Vandana and Cheraw dance performed by the students of the university.

RGU Chancellor Pansari in his welcome speech, lauded Minister Bhattacharya for his dynamism, perseverance and his ability to reach out to the masses. He referred to the exodus of students from the North East and requested support from the government to turn this dream into a reality and to work towards integration of the NE region with both the ASEAN and the BBIN countries by conducting various student exchange programs in the future.

Vice Chancellor Prof Singh also spoke, sharing his experience of having met Dr Kalam.

Assam�s heart throb Zubeen Garg and his team were also present at the RGU for the promotion of his upcoming film Kanchenjunga. Jatin Bora was also at RGU to promote Ratnakar.
