GUWAHATI, May 14 - The Court of Special Judge, Assam, today acquitted Education department official Jogen Bora and four others, in connection with a case relating to release of salaries against the names of non-existent teachers.
The Court acquitted the accused as the prosecution failed to prove the charges beyond reasonable doubts.
Bora, who was represented by advocates Bijon Mahajan and Nayan Das, was charged with misappropriating public money worth more than Rs 14 lakh.
The prosecution during the course of the trial had examined as many as 31 witnesses, one court witness and four defence witnesses.
The case (02/1999) was registered by the Chief Minister Vigilance police station attributing various sections under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
