ECI team inspects poll preparations in Karimganj

Silchar, March 24: A team from Election Commission of India (ECI) led by Senior Deputy Election Commissioner Dharmendra Sharma was in Karimganj to inspect the proceedings ahead of the second phase of Assembly elections slated to be held on April 1.

According to DIPR Karimganj, the ECI team had visited the strong room at Karimganj College and also went around some of the polling stations in and around the border town and inspected the facilities therein.

Also, the team had a meeting with Chief Electoral Officer Assam Nitin Khade IAS, General Observers Parimal Singh IAS, Rajeev Sharma IAS and Karee Gowda IAS, Police Observer DH Parmar IPS, Expenditure Observers Sajit Kumar P, IRS and Deo Kumar ICAS, IGP (L&O) and State Police Nodal Officer, Deepak Kr. Kedia, Senior Principal Secretary, ECI, N.N. Butolia and Director (Election Expenditure), ECI, Pankaj Srivastava, Karimganj Deputy Commissioner Anbamuthan MP IAS and Superintendent of Police Mayank Kumar IPS at the Circuit House.

The Deputy Commissioner, while informing the visiting ECI team, highlighted on the various steps taken by the District Administration to ensure safe and impartial election in the district. The District Administration ensured the ECI team that all measures regarding COVID-19 protocol has been taken at all the polling station within the district.
