EC secy reviews poll preparations

GUWAHATI, March 14 - Secretary of Election Commission of India, Narendra N Butolia, took stock of the preparedness for the Assembly elections in Kamrup district recently. He was accompanied by DC-cum-DEO Vinod Seshan and other senior election officials of the district, stated a press release.

The EC secretary also reviewed the �E-Subidha� and �E-Samadhan� and other poll related preparations and expressed his satisfaction over the arrangements done by the district administration.

The EC secretary also inspected the functioning of some of the Cells constituted for smooth conduct of election process. Later, he attended a training programme for the presiding and polling officers at DK College, Mirza.

GPS System introduced: Kamrup district has become the first in the State in introducing GPS system in flying squads vehicles. In Kamrup, the system was installed in 12 vehicles. This facility was introduced for central tracking of the flying squad vehicles.

Road show: To increase the voter�s turnout, ethical voting and to create a free, fair and peaceful atmosphere in Kamrup district, a road show was organised at Chaygaon LAC on Sunday. The road show will be conducted in all parts of the district in coming days to spread awareness among the voters.

Poll training: To make the election process error free, the first phase of election training for the Presiding Officers and Polling Officers is going on in full swing in the district. In total, 1,260 Presiding and Polling Officers were imparted training on March 12 and 13 at D K College, Mirza. The second phase of training will be held at Suren Ram Das College of Hajo on March 20.
