GUWAHATI, Jan 22 - The Election Commission of India today took stock of the overall preparedness in the State including the existing law and order scenario in view of the forthcoming general elections.
Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora today enquired about the scenario and preparedness in the State via video conferencing.
Representatives� of various stakeholders including senior officials of the Assam Police took part in the video conferencing.
Sources told The Assam Tribune that the CEC also reviewed the status of various initiatives that it had asked the State Government to comply with.
Along with Assam Government representatives from various other States also took part in the video-conferencing.
Chief Electoral Officer MC Sahu, when contacted, informed that the CEC took stock of the overall preparedness of the State in view of the ensuing Lok Sabha polls.
A team of CEC is likely to visit the State very soon.
