EC Observer meets poll officials at Udalguri

KALAIGAON, March 28 - JM Pathania, Election Commission Observer, met all the officials engaged in Lok Sabha poll duty in Udalguri district today.

A meeting was held at the conference hall of the Udalguri Deputy Commissioner at 11 am where the EC Observer had an interactive session with all the zonal and sector officials of the district.

In his inaugural speech, Dilip Kumar Das, Deputy Commissioner and Returning Officer of Udalguri district under 8 Mangaldai parliamentary constituency, briefed the poll Observer about steps taken by the district administration for holding free and fair elections in three LACs of the district.

While talking to poll officials of the district, Pathania expressed satisfaction at the steps taken by the administration for holding the polls in a peaceful manner. He spoke in details about the role of zonal and sector officers engaged in election process.

He said sector and zonal officials would be given the power of a magistrate seven days prior to the poll date for maintenance of law and order in the poll process.

The EC Observer requested poll officials to keep a strict vigil on anti-social elements and take steps for building confidence among people.

Seventy-four sector and eleven zonal officers have been appointed in Udalguri district for peaceful holding of the Lok Sabha polls.
