Early poll to Rabha Hasong Council demanded

GOALPARA,Oct 30 � Expressing solidarity by some organisations leading the Rabha Hasong movement along with some prominent leaders for holding of early elections to the Rabha Hasong Autonomous Council (RHAC), a joint meeting of was held recently at the central office of All Rabha Students Union (ARSU), Dudhnoi under the chairmanship of Tankeswar Rabha, president, All Rabha Students Union (ARSU).

Talking to this correspondent, Jibon Rabha, secretary, said that some critical issues were discussed threadbare and a resolution was taken by the house to urge the State Government for taking necessary steps for holding of the elections to RHAC immediately.

He also said that some of the recognised organisations representing other sections of the population working within the council area will be invited for a discussion so that they may also become major stake holder in the peace process and contribute in the ulimate formation of the RHAC.

He also said that the representatives who attended the meeting also focussed on the present status of and ways to strenghten the Rabha movement and their demand for the 6th Schedule status to the RHAC.

Meanwhile, representatives of All Rabha Students Union (ARSU), Sixth Schedule Demand Committee (SSDC), All Rabha Women Council (ARWC), Rabha National Council (RNC), Sadau Rabha Kristi Sanmilan (SRKS), Babak Rabha Kraunang Rumchum (BRKR), who participated in the meeting demanded immediate elction to RHAC and also were in favour for a peaceful settlement of all the relevant issues confronting the aggrieved parties and they also said that and they will continue to support the Rabha movement till the demand for 6th schedule status for RHAC is not fulfilled and urged the State Government to send the proposal for recomendation immediately to the Central Government for inclusion of RHAC under the 6th schedule of Indian constitution.
