SHILLONG, Oct 1 - After the surgical strike across LOC and possibilities of China disturbing peace in the eastern sector, Air Marshal C Hari Kumar said the Eastern Air Command (EAC) is fully prepared to meet any eventuality.
Air Marshal Kumar said the terrorist activities were mostly confined to Western Command, but nonetheless EAC is also fully prepared.
Whatever is happening in the West, it is confined to that area. Now we are waiting for Pakistans reaction. Both countries dont want war, it isnt good for anybody. But we cannot let any country dictate terms to us and kill our soldiers. The EAC is fully prepared, he said on the sidelines of an Air Fest here at EAC headquarters.
There is a possibility that China may try to disturb peace in the Eastern region to help its ally Pakistan in the current scenario. China has built its infrastructure and other military assets in the Eastern region in the recent past.
The Air Marshal said India too is building up its infrastructure in the Eastern sector. We are looking at building up our capabilities to meet challenges. We are not looking at any particular country as a competitor or enemy, Air Marshal Hari Kumar said in reference to China.
Citing about the military assets, he said, soon the EAC would have a squadron of Rafale fighter jets. The Rafale deal has been signed and a Rafale squadron will be formed at EAC sector, he informed.
EAC, he stated, already has two squadrons of Sukhoi 30 fighter jets deployed, in addition to MIG 27s and Hawks. We are going to add another squadron of Su-30 soon, he said.
Regarding infrastructure, the Air Marshal said, Advanced Landing Grounds are being built rapidly. Out of seven ALGs, five have been built and the other two would be completed by the end of this year and 2017.
