GUWAHATI, Aug 6 Former champions Dynamo Club posted a handsome 4-0 victory against Green Valley Sports Club in RG Baruah Super Division Football League at the Nehru Stadium here today.
Green Valley performed poorly and were outplayed by well combined Dynamo in all departments. Onyebi Nandos Ogbonna opened the account in the 27th minute with a beautiful header off a floater sent by skipper Abraham Goodluck (1-0). Midfielder Ezekiel Sunday increased the margin to 2-0 in the next minute. Nandos set the ball for Sunday after a move initiated by Lalfakmawia.
After the break Nandos made it 3-0 with a solo effort. He dribbled the ball through two Green Valley defenders and drove home from top of the box. Medio Akil Baroi completed the rout in the 73rd minute with a sharp header (4-0). Hardworking midfielder Lalfakmawia sent the ball to Akil from right flank and the latter nodded the ball into the net beating the rival defenders in air.
Green Valley today could not make any impact on the opponents. Neither they could resist the fast moving and well combined Dynamo attackers nor could trouble the defenders.
Midfielder Clearance Carter Ezebube and Uttam Basumatary tried to collect their players but finally they were overpowered by Dynamo midfielders Sunday, Akil and Lalfakmawia. Veteran Sanjeeba Rongpi and Nigerian striker George Prince were totally off coloured and hardly could do anything for their team. Nimble-footed Apurba Phukan, however, troubled the Dynamo defenders with his speed and sudden shots.
Dynamo attacker Nandos was at his peak today and everything went right for him whenever he touched the ball. He took full advantage of the weakness of Green Valley custodian Tonmoy Sarkar and caught him in wrong foot on several occasions.
Along with the goalkeeper Green Valley defenders were also not organised and they left enough passage for the opponent attackers.
Rising drub City Police: Rising XI maintained their winning form intact in the A Division League for Jibeswar Goswami Trophy.
Today they registered 3-0 victory against City Police. Indrajit Sonowal drew the first blood in the 16th minute while Apurba Rabha enhanced the margin in the 25th minute. The final nail was hammered by Girindra Rabha in the 86th minute.
The margin could have been big had the Rising strikers not missed some easy sitters.
