Dutta Book Stall of Dergaon turns 25

DERGAON, June 14 � A leading book stall and newspaper agency, Dutta Book Stall entered 25 glorious years of existence recently.

To mark the day, well wishers as well as customers of the establishment organised a special function recently. The HoD of Chemistry, DKD College, Dr Monojjyoti Hazarika and the vice-principal of Dergaon Girls� HS School, Chidananda Pathak inaugurated the programme by lighting an earthen lamp. The function moderated by Dhrubajyoti Bora was addressed by Dr Monojjyoti Hazarika, journalist Bichitra Bhusan Kalita, Sanjoy Kr Hazarika, Indubhusan Mahanta and Chidananda Pathak. All of them congratulated the energetic young businessman, Prasanta Dutta and urged him to be even more committed to the readers as well as the customers of the stall.

The owner of the stall, Prasanta Dutta, as part of his social commitment, congratulated a brilliant but poor student, Disha Rajkhowa on her success and presented her with a packet of text books along with some cash for her future studies. Disha who comes from a poor family of Kumargaon and is the daughter of Krishna Rajkhowa and Runa Hazarika Rajkhowa, secured 71.24 per cent marks with letter marks in Assamese in Higher Secondary Final (Arts) Examination from Dergaon Girls� HS School.

Addressing the gathering, Prasanta Dutta expressed his gratitude to the well wishers and said that he started his stall on June 6, 1990 with the agency of vernacular daily Ajir Asom and later on, in 1995 he got the agency of The Assam Tribune and the Dainik Asam. At present he is serving as a book and paper seller of all papers published from the State at Dergaon. He also assured the gathering of providing committed service to the customers in the coming days.

Replying to the assistance, Disha expressed her gratitude and said that she would try to bring better results in the next stage of her study. In the programme, her father, Krishna Rajkhowa was also present.
