Durga Puja peaceful in Karbi Anglong

DIPHU, Oct 9 - The Durga Puja celebrations across the hill district of Karbi Anglong ended peacefully on Tuesday. No reports of any untoward incident taking place was received during the puja festival celebration from any corner of the autonomous district.

Tight security measures were ensured by police administration in every puja mandap since the beginning to the closing day. On the closing day, Durga idols of Diphu town were immersed by the Durga puja celebration committees at Panbari and Manja rivers respectively according to their convenience.

On the other hand, Howraghat also celebrated Durga Puja with pomp and gaiety. Thousands of devotees joined the idol immersion ceremony. All the idols as per ritual were immersed at the Jamuna river.

Simultaneously, the Ramlila festivities came to an end with the burning of gigantic effigies of demon king Ravan which was the centre of attraction for the public at Howraghat.
