AGARTALA, Oct 9 - The four-day Durga Puja festival passed off peacefully without any untoward incident here.

There were small bouts of late monsoon rainfall on Saptami , Ashtami and Dashmi but that did not deter festivities or rush of people on the streets. The Puja pandals witnessed heavy rush till late night.

Power supply remained uninterrupted in Agartala town, but in subdivisions and district towns it was not smooth.

As expected, big budget Puja pandals like Bhart Ratna, Chittaranjan Club, Bloodmouth, Aikatan Yuba Sangh, Netaji Play Centre and Shanti Kami Sangh pulled huge crowd during the four-day festivities.

All the leaders of ruling party, including Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb visited many pandals and inaugurated many of them.

There were minor mishaps as the huge gate of Bharat Ratna Sangha in Usha Bazar suddenly collapsed under the impact of a sudden storm plunging the entire area into darkness which was restored soon.
