DOOMDOOMA, Sept 27 - The five-day long Durga Puja festival began on Tuesday evening with the invocation of Goddess Durga in Tea town Doomdooma and its surrounding areas.
This year more than 50 puja pandals are being set up at Doomdooma town and its adjoining areas under Doomdooma Circle where different programmes have been planned for the puja celebrations.
Among all the pujas of Doomdooma town, the 113-year-old Doomdooma Asomiya Puja Aru Natya Mandir Committee's Durga Puja is the main centre of attraction for the devotees as this puja is performed by following all the religious and traditional rituals. This year too, the puja committee has organised several special programmes and competitions. A souvenir will also be brought out on this occasion.
The Sarbajanin Durga Puja of GNB Road of Doomdooma town is celebrating its golden jubilee this year with a variety of programmes. Similarly, Rupbon-Trolyline Sarbajanin Durga Puja here is celebrating its silver jubilee this year with several programmes.
Moreover, it is expected that the decorations of Doomdooma Marwari Durga Puja and Hindustani Durga Puja will attract huge crowds.
