TURA, Oct 12 - Durga Puja celebrations in Tura ended yesterday amidst pouring rains which, however, could not hamper the festive spirit as residents bid farewell to the Goddess.
Rains, which were a part over the complete four days of festivities, continued relentlessly. Despite this the immersion procession was watched by thousands of devotees.
The immersion procession started from Tura Police Parade ground near the Main Bazaar before ending at Babupara immersion ghat. The procession started at about 2 pm and ended close to 7 pm yesterday.
A total of 24 Durga puja mandaps took part in the procession, led by the 131-year-old Nepali puja mandap. Devotees marched through the streets dancing and singing for the Goddess. The immersions were over by 6.45 pm.
