DU youth festival comes to an end

DIBRUGARH, Jan 23 - The three-day Dibrugarh University (DU) Inter-College Youth Festival concluded today at Dibrugarh Hanumanbux Surajmal Kanoi College here. The event, which had taken off with a colourful multicultural procession on the opening day, was attended by more than two thousand students from some 58 affiliated colleges of Dibrugarh University.

The three-day programme, which provided students a platform to showcase their talents in various events like sports, arts, dance, debate, music, recitation, photography, elocution and drama etc., was inaugurated by Dr Alak Kumar Buragohain, Vice Chancellor of Dibrugarh University. Eminent writer Dr Nagen Saikia was the chief guest.

An education fair was also organised as part of the festival for the first time. The organising committee had invited Mody University of Rajasthan, Subharti University of Bangalore and Ghousia College of Engineering of Karnataka to participate in the meet billed Edu Fair.

The festival concluded with the prize distribution ceremony today. Among a series of competitive events, unprecedented numbers of one-act plays were staged at the newly renovated stage of Lal Chand Kanoi College auditorium during the festival.
