DU to host convention of library professionals

DIBRUGARH, Sept 18 � Dibrugarh University, in collaboration with Information and Library Network (INFLIBNET) Centre, Ahmedabad will hold the 9th convention of Promotion of Library Automation and Networking in North Eastern Region (PLANNER) from September 25 to 27.

The INFLIBNET Centre has been organizing this event since 2002 in collaboration with various universities of the North East. The PLANNER convention at Dibrugarh University will provide a platform to the librarians, information providers and users involved in automation and networking of libraries to come together and interact on the subjects of mutual interest.

It shall also bring together the Library and Information Science professionals as well as the Computer professionals, academicians, publishers and subject experts to discuss and deliberate on latest trends in Library and Information Science, a release stated.

Kalpana Dasgupta, member of the National Knowledge Commission of India, Dr Jagdish Arora, Director, INFLIBNET Centre, Ahmedabad, Prof Prabhakar Rath, Dean, School of Economics, Management and Information Science, Mizoram University are expected in the convention. Moreover, Dr H Anil Kumar, Librarian, IIM Ahmedabad, Dr Ramesh Gaur, Librarian JNU, New Delhi, Dr Dinesh Kumar Gupta from Vardhman Mahavir Open University, Kota, among many others will participate in a panel discussion in the PLANNER 2014.

The theme of the convention is �Capacity Building in Library and Information Services�.
