DIBRUGARH, Sept 10 � Completion of 25 glorious years of the Space Science Research Centre in Dibrugarh University was celebrated in a function organised by the research scholars of the Centre for Atmospheric Studies on September 5. The Space Science Research Centre in Dibrugarh University was initiated by Prof Pradip Kumar Bhuyan in 1989. Over the years, the research activities have expanded into both lower and upper atmospheric studies.

Prof Bhuyan, known nationally and internationally for his contribution to space science research was felicitated by the research students on this occasion. A compendium of his 112 published research papers in national/international journals was also released for the benefit of the current and future research scholars. The teachers, alumni and faculty present applauded the contribution of Prof Bhuyan to space science research and spoke about his untiring efforts towards the establishment of the Centre for Atmospheric Studies in 2006, the only research centre in the entire North-east engaged in both atmospheric and space science research with large external funding support from organisations like ISRO, UGC, DST etc. Befitting this occasion, the centre also celebrated Teacher�s Day by felicitating the retired teachers and present faculties of the Department of Physics.

The meeting was attended by about all the retired teachers of the department, present the faculty, alumni and students.
