DU gears up for convocation

DIBRUGARH, May 1 � Prof Amaresh Datta and Narayan Chandra Goswami will be conferred D Litt degrees while Prof Jitendra Nath Goswami will be awarded the DSc degree during the 12th convocation of Dibrugarh University (DU) on May 4.

The university, which is accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with an institutional score of 71% (B grade has conferred the Honoris Causa on about 23 eminent persons ever since its establishment in 1965. Dibrugarh University is a member of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) and the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU). The degrees conferred by this university are recognised all over India and abroad on reciprocal basis.

Preparations are afoot for the convocation where altogether 4857 candidates of 23 different courses will be awarded degrees and certificates. Since the last convocation, Dibrugarh University has achieved significant growth in the areas of both academic and infrastructural development. Another remarkable achievement is that the Dibrugarh University has prepared and presented the balance sheet of the university before the authorities for the first time ever.

All eligible candidates applying for the Convocation have been asked to reach the university auditorium by 8:30 AM for participation in the students procession. The university authorities have requested the candidates to collect their convocation robes on May 3 from 10 AM to 3 pm and on May 4 from 7.30 am to 9 am from notified venues.
