GUWAHATI, March 24 � The District Transport Officer (Registration & Licensing), Kamrup Metro, has appealed to the owners of motor vehicles in the district to pay their outstanding road tax before March 31 as per a government direction, an official release stated.
The District Transport Officer has informed that those motor vehicle owners who have not paid their road tax, renewed RCs and fitness certificates and others who do not possess or have renewed their driving licences, conductor�s licences, etc., can pay their taxes and fees between l0 am and 3 pm at specified cash counters of the office situated at Betkuchi here on all the working days.
There will be no grace period for payment of tax this month, and those vehicle owners who are waiting for the grace period will have to face stern action if they do not pay the tax before March 31, the release said, adding, for the convenience of the general public to pay taxes, the office will remain open on March 28 (fourth Saturday) from l0 am to 2 pm.
�Motor vehicle inspectors and enforcement inspectors have been conducting all-out road checking drives against those vehicle owners who have not paid their road tax so that no vehicle can ply on the road without the payment of tax,� the release added.
