GUWAHATI, June 12 � The Kamrup Metro DTO has intensified drives against errant truck drivers, besides auto-rickshaws and two-wheeler riders, who have been found violating traffic rules. In the past few days, transport authorities have launched a series of checks, said an official statement.
Drives against trucks carrying loads beyond permissible limit and those using illegal horns of high decibel have been carried out on the NH 37 and other roads. A total of seven trucks were seized this week and cases filed under relevant acts.
This comes even as the transport department carried out a drive against errant auto-rickshaws and seized five autos from Lal Ganesh and Paltan Bazar localities on June 10 and collected penalty worth Rs 35,000 from two-wheeler riders for violation of rules related to use of helmets.
