Dry day in Hailakandi dist

HAILAKANDI, May 17 - The district administration of Hailakandi has declared May 19 i.e., the day of counting of votes, as a dry day in the entire district. By an official order, it has imposed prohibition on all sorts of selling, procuring, administration and storage of alcohol during the day. All the wine shops will remain closed as per the provisions of the Excise Act and any violation will be strictly dealt with, the official press release added.

The selling and burning of cracker has also been banned in Hailakandi district and some restrictions have also been made throughout the district under Section 144 CrPC. The security has been tightened throughout the district for counting of votes, said police super Shubhasini Sankaran.
