Drugs seized at New Bongaigaon

BONGAIGAON, May 7 - An escort team of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) on Friday recovered 40 capsules and six white-coloured tablets from one Hridayananda Pathak (32), while he was travelling in the down Ernakulum Express train for New Jalpaiguri Railway station. He boarded the train at Barpeta.

The RPF team later handed over Pathak to the Government Railway Police (GRP) at New Bongaigaon railway station and accordingly, the GRP registered a case against Pathak.

According to Munin Dutta, officer in-charge of New Bongaigaon GRP station, Pathak, a resident of Palangdihati in Barpeta district, was going to Siliguri by train to buy electronic goods. He bought the drugs from a person at Mazdia in the same district and kept these drugs for his personal use.

Pathak is being interrogated at New Bongaigaon GRP station. GRP is also trying to find out the use and source of the drugs.
