IMPHAL, April 4 - Assam Rifles troops apprehended an alleged drug smuggler carrying Brown Sugar and WY (World is Yours) tablets worth Rs 2.53 crore at Khudengthabi Check Post in Manipur, according to a press release.

On April 2, based on a specific input, a combined team of troops from Khudengthabi Post and police stopped a Hyundai car (MN 06 LA 5954) travelling from Moreh to Imphal, Assam Rifles (South) PRO said in a press release. The search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of 32 bricks wrapped in paper containing pouches with 64,000 tablets suspected to be WY tablets and 25 packets of orange coloured powder suspected to be brown sugar, weighing 306 grams. The contraband items were being smuggled by Ch Momocha Singh of Koirengei Bazar, Imphal East District. The approximate cost of the drugs is Rs 2.53 crore, the release added.
