Drug peddler nabbed

IMPHAL, Aug 20 - A drug peddler alongwith drugs worth Rs 89 lakh was apprehended by Assam Rifles troops in Manipur on Saturday, sources said.

On August 19, the personnel of Assam Rifles apprehended the drug peddler at vehicle check post at Khudengthabi of Tengnoupal district bordering Myanmar.

According to the Assam Rifles, around 2.30 pm, a Maruti van moving from Moreh town to Imphal was stopped at the check post. After thorough search of the vehicle, 60 grams of heroin and 11,900 WY tablets worth Rs 89.50 lakh were recovered. The recovered drugs along with the apprehended man was handed over to Customs authorities at Moreh, according to the Assam Rifles.
