NAGAON, May 8 - In a joint search operation by a team of CID from Guwahati and the local Morikolong police, one drug peddler, who is a resident of Morikolong Charikhuti area, was arrested along with a huge amount of banned cough syrup bottles this morning.
The arrested peddler has been identified as Nekib Ahmed. Police recovered a huge amount of banned cough syrup from his house.
Subsequently, based on his statement, the police and CID team again jointly raided the house of one Jakir Hussain situated in the same area and recovered more than 537 bottles of banned cough syrup from his possession. However, Hussain managed to escape.
Sources said the CID sleuths have brought Nekib Ahmed to its Guwahati-based headquarters for further interrogation.
