Drug kingpin apprehended in Nagaon

GUWAHATI, Feb 19 - In its continuous drive against the spiralling drug menace, Nagaon Police apprehended drug kingpin Abzor Ali last night. Ali was arrested in connection with Nagaon Police Station case No. 243/18 under Section 22� of the NDPS Act, informed Nagaon Superintendent of Police Shankar Rai Medhi. Prior to the arrest of Ali, police had arrested three other accused in connection with the same case. They include Anjali Saikia, Gopal Das and Biju Das. Both Gopal and Biju are the employees of Indian Drug Agency. Over 18,000 tablets and 4,730 bottles of cough syrup were recovered during the raid conducted on January 23. �We are taking stern action against the drug peddlers and those involved in the chain. At the same time, we are trying to raise the level of awareness regarding drug abuse,� said Rai Medhi.
