DIBRUGARH, Aug 27 - In a major crackdown on drug dealers, police in its continued raids arrested yet another alleged dealer of the banned substances last night from Kodomoni, Running Shed Gate here and seized huge quantity of sedative tablets, about 20 grams of suspected heroin and cash Rs 15,000 in cash. The contraband drug dealer, identified as Bhupen Talukdar, was arrested immediately.
Superintendent of Police Sreejith T, who led the police team, said that peddling of narcotics and its abuse in the city had become a serious problem.
The drug dealer Bhupen Talukdar is a resident of Khaniagaon, Dibrugarh. The night before yesterday, police had arrested Tusharjyoti Gogoi from his residence in Rupnagar here and seized about 111 grams of suspected heroin along with cash amounting to Rs 73,000. The raids followed after police nabbed one Yunus Khan from Loharpatty area with 300 grams of the suspected banned substances on August 21, 2020.
