GUWAHATI, April 4 - A startup firm, Marut Dronetech Pvt Ltd, founded by IIT Guwahati alumnus Prem Kumar Vislawath, has developed and deployed drones for spraying disinfectants in public spaces to prevent spread of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and the company is keen to work in Assam as well.
Hyderabad-based Marut Dronetech is working with the Government of Telangana and various departments of the southern state to deploy drones for public safety applications.
Recently, Karimnagar Municipal Corporation in Telangana deployed customised drones of Marut Dronetech for spraying disinfectants in Mukarampur area of Karimnagar, where 10 Indonesian citizens and one local person had tested positive for COVID-19.
Disinfectants were also sprayed at various offices and public places at Karimnagar.
Speaking about his startup and the way it can contribute in the present situation of pandemic, Vislawath, who is the co-founder and CEO of Marut Dronetech, said, �At a time when countries across the world are submitting to mass lockdowns owing to the ongoing pandemic, drone has emerged as a breath of fresh air by proving to be an alternative and plausible lifeline for stranded populations advised social-distancing. Nations across the world have imposed quarantines in an attempt to control the spread of the novel coronavirus. Drones could be the best solution to spray disinfectants and reduce infections, to monitor people�s movement for crowd control and for emergency delivery of medicines to those quarantined and the elders. The contactless, fast-paced operations will strengthen the anti-COVID-19 efforts of the government.�
Vislawath added that drones can also be used by personnel to monitor places with high disease prevalence.
He said the drones can be deployed for temperature check and thermal imaging, medical delivery critical supplies.
Drones can be used to deliver medicines and other critical supplies to reduce unnecessary human contact.
Vislawath, who did his BTech in Electronics and Communication in 2012, added that he is keen to work in Assam. It is noteworthy that Vislawath has featured in the Forbes list of �30 Under 30-Asia-Industry, Manufacturing & Energy 2020�.
�We would love to work in Assam as well. We work in the field of mosquito eradication, disease prediction, scalable reforestation and sustainable agriculture solutions, all of which can be used in Assam,� he said.
