JALUKBARI, Feb 28 - Monoj Kalita (30), the driver of a Traveller, was arrested and sent to jail after a shocking video of his vehicle dragging a traffic policeman surfaced on social media.

Police said that Parag Changkakati of Jalukbari Traffic Police had reportedly prevented Monoj from parking his Traveller in a no parking area. A defiant Monoj then tried to run his vehicle over Changkakati, who tried to save himself by holding on to the bonnet of the Traveller. Luckily, Changkakati escaped unhurt.

After committing the crime, Monoj fled from the spot, but was caught several hours later. He was arrested and produced in the court, which sent him to jail on Wednesday.

Although the incident happened on February 25, it came to light only after the video went viral on social media, police sources added. The video appeared to have been shot by a passenger from inside the vehicle. Monoj has been booked under sections 279, 353 and 307 of IPC.
