Drive against uneven market rates in Haflong

HAFLONG, March 23 - In order to ease public difficulties in respect of uneven or unreasonable market rates of vegetables, meat and fish at the Haflong market, the Chief Executive Member of NC Hills Autonomous Council Debolal Gorlosa along with Executive Member Nandita Gorlosa, MACs Nojit Kemprai, Ratan Jarambusa, Secretary and CEO of Haflong Town Committee inspected the weekly market on Saturday.

Gorlosa, accompanied by officials from Haflong Town Committee, Food and Civil Supplies Department, Agriculture Marketing departments interacted with the traders dealing in vegetables, meat and fish to know the reasons for the uneven rates.

The CEM while expressing concern over the exorbitant rates of commodities, particularly at the Haflong market, assured that within a day or two he will fix the rates, which the public will find reasonable. He will take a decision after a discussion with the line departments like Haflong Town Committee, Food and Civil Supplies and Agriculture Marketing departments.

He also expressed dissatisfaction over the rules of the Town Committee and also other departments responsible for fixation of market rates. He said that at Maibang, meat is being sold at a much cheaper rate than that of Haflong. He also appealed to the people of Haflong in particular to extend support to the NC Hills Autonomous Council in such matters, which will be beneficial for them. He added that the NCHAC will leave no stone unturned for the benefit of the public.
