BONGAIGAON, Dec 29 - Enforcement officials of the Bongaigaon District Transport Office seized the documents of erring truck operators during a special drive launched last night on the NH-31 C in Bongaigaon district.
The Enforcement team also examined the drivers of trucks and other vehicles through breath analysers to check drink driving, which is one of the prime causes of road mishaps during night hours.
Abdul Mazid, District Transport Officer, said that a total of 36 truck operators were penalised for violating traffic laws during the drive.
�In a bid to check road mishaps and earn revenue, such special drives are launched in winter months�, said Mazid.
The truck drivers said that each of them had to pay a fine of Rs 5,000 at the District Transport Office for flouting traffic laws before their trucks were released.
