SHILLONG, Sept 28 - Addressing students at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) here today, Chairman of the Defence Research and Development Organization (DRDO) G Satheesh Reddy recalled his association with former President Dr APJ Abdul Kalam.
Reddy said that Dr Kalam was �a visionary like no other�. Recounting his days as a young scientist working under the supervision of Dr Kalam, Reddy spoke on the various challenges that came up while developing India�s missile system as one of the most successful in the world.
It may be mentioned here that Dr Kalam was a visiting professor at the IIM-Shillong post his tenure as the President. He passed away here while giving a speech on �Creating a livable planet earth� on July 27, 2015.
Reddy also highlighted the challenges he faces regularly as the DRDO Chairman, and how the organisation tackles these challenges successfully and completes projects.
The Chief of Staff, Army HQ 101, Shillong, Major General PK Saini also narrated his experiences to the students and said it was everybody�s responsibility to ensure the faster progress of the nation.
