Drama fest at Rabindra Bhawan

GUWAHATI, March 28 � A two-day drama festival is being jointly organised by the Asam Sahitya Sabha, the Kalatirtha and the State Directorate of Cultural Affairs at the Rabindra Bhawan here in conformity with the birth centenary celebrations of Late Lakshyadhar Choudhury, a noted playwright, thespian, writer and political leader of yesteryear, on March 30 and 31, said a press release here today.

The festival will be inaugurated by Sahitya Sabha president Dr Dhrubajyoti Bora. Former Judge of the Supreme Court of India, Dr Mukundakam Sarma, will be present at the inaugural function as the chief guest. The Commissioner Secretary of the Cultural Affairs Department, Preetom Saikia, will attend the function as a distinguished guest.

On the first day of the festival, Late Choudhury�s play Enishar Atithi would be staged at 6 pm. The play is being directed by Paramananda Rajbongshi and its stage arrangements are being made by Naren Hazarika. Artistes Dilip Barua, Kumar Dipak Das, Ananya Parasar, Priyanka Sarma, Rupam Chetia, Hemen Kalita, Sasanka, Dibya, among others, will act in the play. The music of the play is being scored by Manik Ahmed.

This will be followed by the staging of Epiyola Chah, penned by Late Pandit Tirtha Nath Sarma.

On the following day, Dr Paramananda Rajbongshi�s play Kamala Kunwari and Manimala Das� play Swikarokti will be staged at the same venue as part of the festival, the press release further said.
