GUWAHATI, March 31 � A life-size bronze statue of noted historian and the second Vice Chancellor of Gauhati University Dr Surya Kumar Bhuyan is being installed in front of the New Arts Building of the university.

According to a university communication, the statue would be unveiled at a function to be held in front of the New Arts Building at 11 am of April 6.

Vice Chancellor of Calcutta University and noted historian Dr Suranjan Das will unveil the statue.

It needs mention here that Dr Bhuyan (1894-1964) held the post of Vice Chancellor of Gauhati University between 1957 and 1960.

Treated cancer patients� meet on April 8

GUWAHATI, March 31 � The North East Cancer Hospital and Research Institute is organising its fourth treated cancer patients meet on April 8 on the institute premises. In a day-long programme, the problems of cancer patients of Northeast India would be discussed.

All the patients would be given free check-up and investigations including CT scan, X-ray, ultrasound and blood test. Post-treated patients would attend the meet with their original documents related to earlier treatment, a press release stated.
