Dr Rita Choudhury feted

DOOMDOOMA, May 17 � All Assam Chinese Welfare Society (AACWS) today felicitated eminent Assamese novelist Dr Rita Choudhury at Jugal Kishor Keshan Bhawan today.

The felicitation programme was presided over by AACWS president Wang Shing Tung and was also attended by Willie Ho and Molina Choudhury. At the beginning, AACWS secretary Jackson Ho told that Dr Rita Choudhury�s novel Makam played an important role in uniting the Chinese families scattered in Assam. Suryodaya, an NGO and several other organisations of Makum also felicitated Dr Choudhury.

Addressing the gathering, Dr Choudhury said that her novel Makam was translated into English and the English version of the novel was formally released by Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh in New Delhi recently. She expressed hope that the English version of the novel would help in strengthening Indo-China relationship.
