Dr NK Choudhury to be presented Rajmohan Nath award on Oct 31

GUWAHATI, Sept 20 - The Pratnatatvik Rajmohan Nath Smritiraksha Samiti, Guwahati, will confer the �Abhijanta-Shiromani� (engineer of outstanding calibre) title and present the Rajmohan Nath Award on former Vice Chancellor of Gauhati University (GU) and a renowned engineer, Dr Nirmal Kumar Choudhury.

The Samiti said that the title and the award have been instituted for the first time this year. Considering the contributions made by Dr Choudhury in the field of education, particularly in the field of technical education, it has been decided by the Samiti executive committee to confer the title on him, besides presenting the award.

The Samiti said that it was founded on June 30, 2010, in the memory of Rajmohan Nath with the goal of binding the peoples of both the Brahmaputra and the Barak valleys with a permanent bond and also provide a platform to the litterateurs, cultural activists and pursuers of knowledge.

The Samiti will celebrate the 120th birth anniversary of Rajmohan Nath, an engineer-cum-archaeologist, at the Chandmari-based Assam Engineering Institute (AEI) here on October 31 with a series of lectures, in association with the teachers and students of the AEI. Rajmohan Nath was a Principal of this Institute. Dr Choudhury would be presented the title and the award at this function, the Samiti said.
