Dr Nagen Saikia conferred �Chintanayak� title

DIBRUGARH, May 27 - Eminent writer, educationist and former president of Asam Sahitya Sabha, Dr Nagen Saikia was recently conferred the Chintanayak title at a function of the Zilla Karmachari Parishad at DHS Kanoi College, a release stated.

Deputy Commissioner MS Manivannan, who attended the function as the chief guest, conferred the title as he offered a citation, seleng sador, japi and a packet containing books.

The Deputy Commissioner lauded the initiative of the Zilla Karmachari Parishad to promote work culture amongst the Government employees through this event. The function was presided over by noted writer and president of the Zilla Karmachari Parishad, Indra Gogoi.

The Zilla Karmachari Parishad members also felicitated Dr Sashikanta Saikia, the new Principal of DHS Kanoi College and Padmashree recipient Prahlad Tasa. Senior journalist Ikbal Ahmed inaugurated the function by lighting the ceremonial lamp and also addressed the gathering. The meeting was also addressed by the college Principal Dr Saikia and Nagen Das, one of the patrons of the host organisation.

Padmashree Prahlad Tasa spoke on the works and achievements of Dr Nagen Saikia, who expressed his gratitude to the organisers for bestowing on him the honour.

Earlier, the function started with planting of saplings by Mousumi Jadav Deka, a student of the college.
