Dr Lyn Evans to grace IIT-Guwahati fest

GUWAHATI, Aug 10 � Techniche, the techno-management festival of IIT-Guwahati to be held from September 1 to 4 is expected to attract a lot of young talents. This year�s edition would offer a platform to budding engineers, entrepreneurs and innovators of the country to prove their talent, skills and knowledge, besides acquainting them with leading figures of science and industry.

Techniche�11 will have a lecture series in which scientists and management gurus from top institutions will give students an insight into their areas of work. This year, Dr Lyn Evans � Project Leader of the Large Hadron Collider at CERN, Geneva � will be a star attraction. The Large Hadron Collider is the world�s largest and highest energy particle accelerator and could throw light on some of physics� most fundamental questions.

RO Mehra, director of the film Rang de Basanti, is also expected this year at Techniche �11. The filmmaker and has won National Awards, a Filmfare Award for Best Director, and a BAFTA nomination.

To facilitate interaction, an industrial conclave is being organised with renowned personalities and experts from various fields for delivering lectures on topics related to management and industrial development.

As on previous occasions, Techniche �11 will host a variety of competitions such as Robotics, Junkyard Wars and VSM � Virtual Stock Market. The management module will conduct various competitions like Stratagem and Brainchild which is the B-Plan competition. The winner of the competition, Brainchild could receive a total incubation sum of Rs 50 lakh apart from prize money, along with free legal and financial consultancy and intensive mentoring.

Techniche�11 will organise the Guwahati Half Marathon on August 29, an attempt by the students of IIT-Guwahati to spread awareness about prevailing social problems. In another social initiative, a blood donation camp will also be organised during Techniche.

IIT-Guwahati will also play host to the final round of Technothlon, the international school level championship for students of classes 9 to 12, the finals of which were held across the nation at more than 120 centres and with a total participation of close to two lakh students.
