Dr Lalit Shyam invited to Buddhist Conference

JORHAT, Nov 6 � Professor Lalit Shyam, eminent Buddhist scholar of national and international repute, has been specially invited from North East India to attend the 25th World Fellowship of Buddhist Conference, 16th World Fellowship of Buddhist Youth Conference, 8th Executive Council Meeting of the World Buddhist University and the First World Buddhist Business Forum to be held in Colombo, Sri Lanka from November 14 to 17, 2010 with the patronage of the Lankan Government.

The theme of the conference is �Reconciliation through the teachings of the Buddha�.

Dr Shyam will take part in the discussion on the theme. Mahinda Rajapaksha, President of Sri Lanka, will formally inaugurate the events. DM Jayarathna, Prime Minister of Sri Lanka and the King of Thailand Bhumibol Adulyadej will attend the events as chief guests.

As per recommendation of Dr Shyam, two Buddhist entrepreneurs from the region will take part in the first World Buddhist Business Forum. Dr Shyam, who is also an artist will present some Assamese cultural items in the cultural evenings to be held in connection with the events. As many as 1,000 delegates from all over the world will attend the events.
