Dr Kosheswar Borah passes away

BISWANATH CHARIALI, Jan 20 - Social worker, former minister in the Golap Borborah government and founder proprietor of the Borah Nursing Home here, Dr Kosheswar Borah passed away around 6:30 pm today at his Kalyanpur residence after prolonged illness. He was 84.

Associated with numerous social organizations, including Asam Sahitya Sabha, Sports Association, Pabhoi Cooperative Society, Biswanath College, etc., Dr Borah was born in an interior village, Kharashimalu, some 10 km from here, in 1932 and had overcome lots of hurdles to become a physician who later became a pioneer in lighting the lamp of education in the entire Biswanath area.

He had served as the Minister of Health, Excise and PHE with independent charge in the Janata Party government in the State. He leaves behind his wife, two sons, a daughter and a host of relatives. His death was widely mourned and a bandh will be observed here tomorrow to pay respect to the departed soul.
