GUWAHATI, Aug 4 - Remembering the great scientist and patriot, Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, the Assam branch of the All India Patriotic Forum today suggested that October 15 � Dr Kalam�s birth date � should be celebrated as �Gyan Vigyan Divas� in the country.
In a meeting here, one minute�s silence was observed for the eternal peace of the departed soul. Tributes were paid to him with songs like O Mor Aponar Desh and Vande Mataram. In the meeting presided over by the forum�s State president, Rupam Baruah, journalist Dhirendranath Chakravartty suggested that October 15 should be celebrated as �Gyan Vigyan Divas�.
Several eminent persons present on the occasion threw light on different aspects of Dr Kalam�s life.
