Dr Jayanta Madhab�s demise condoled

GUWAHATI, Oct 27 - The Guwahati Senior Citizens� Association (GSCA) and the Octogenarian Club today jointly expressed profound grief at the passing away of internationally known economist Dr Jayanta Madhab. Dr Madhab had passed away on October 18 night.

President of the association DN Chakravartty and general secretary Baneswar Khaund recalled the association of Dr Madhab with the GSCA since its inception in 2000.

�Dr Madhab rendered his valuable advice at the meetings of the association for the service of the people at large and the poor and downtrodden in particular. With his vast experience in the field of general welfare and economic uplift of backward countries like India, he offered his advice from the rich experience he gathered at the Asian Development Bank and other national and international institutions in the world. Dr Madhab laid special emphasis on intellectual and technical development in order to uplift Assam from the state of backwardness to a position of dynamic economic growth,� Chakravartty added.
