Dr Hitesh Deka takes charge as VC of Srimanta Sankardeva University

GUWAHATI, June 10 - Dr Hitesh Deka today joined the Srimanta Sankardeva University as its new Vice Chancellor. Previously he was principal of KC Das Commerce College, Guwahati.

A former AASU leader and former MLA from Kamalpur LAC, Dr Deka was also Vice Chancellor of the Krishna Kanta Handiqui State Open University (KKHSOU), the first and only open university in the entire North East. He was instrumental in bringing out Assam Land and People and has been the Chief Editor of Asom Sishu Sahitya Kosha, a project covering 600 years of Assamese children�s literature.
