GUWAHATI, March 26 � Cultural Affairs Minister Bismita Gogoi today told the Assembly that the Bhupen Hazarika memorial at Jalukbari (Guwahati) would be completed within the time-frame of November this year.
Replying to a question by Rafikul Islam (AIUDF), Gogoi said the process got a bit delayed as the land was handed over for the purpose only on October 8, 2014. �Now work is progressing in full swing and we hope to meet the November deadline. Once completed, it will be a major tourist attraction of the State,� she added.
Hussain also demanded a memorial research centre in the name of the great leader of the Barak Valley, Sheikh Ahmed Ali Baskandi.
Gul Akhtara Begum (AIUDF), through a supplementary question, demanded that there should be memorials after folk artistes Pratima Baruah Pandey and Rameswar Pathak.
