GUWAHATI, Nov 5 � The Asam Sahitya Sabha, the apex literary body of the State, will honour Dadasaheb Phalke Award-winning filmmaker Adoor Gopalakrishnan with the Biswaratna Dr Bhupen Hazarika International Solidarity Award, 2015.
The biennial award, instituted to keep the memory of the cultural icon of the State alive and supported by the Numaligarh Refinery, carries Rs 5 lakh, a citation and other gifts.
Gopalakrishnan, also a Padma Vibhushan awardee, has been selected for the award by a committee for his all-round contribution to the field of filmmaking.
The award will be presented to him in March next year.
