GUWAHATI, Nov 30 - Noted educationist, writer and former vice chancellor of Gauhati University, Dr Amarjyoti Choudhury will take over as Editor of Dainik Asam from tomorrow.

Dr Choudhury, who was born in Guwahati in 1950, had also served as pro VC of Tezpur University. He had also served as vice chancellor of the University of Science and Technology, Meghalaya (USTM) and Assam Down Town University (ADTU).

Dr Choudhury secured first position in the State in the High School Leaving Certificate Examination and after completing his graduation with Honours in Physics from Gauhati University, he did his post graduation from Delhi University. He obtained his PhD from Oxford University.

Dr Choudhury has also authored a number of books and translated three books of different aspects of science from English to Assamese. The translated books were published by the National Book Trust. A poem written and recited by him after the death of Dr Bhupen Hazarika touched the soul of every Assamese.

Talking about his new job, Dr Choudhury said that he accepted the responsibility of taking over as Editor of Dainik Asam as a national responsibility.
