GUWAHATI, Aug 27 - The 122nd birth anniversary of Dr Bhubaneswar Barooah, eminent physician, freedom fighter, Gandhian and philanthropist, will be observed on September 4 with a panel discussion titled The family doctor to the super specialist changes and challenges in healthcare practices.

The event is being organised under the auspices of the Induprabha Barooah and Dr Bhubaneswar Barooah Memorial Trust at the NEDFi House auditorium.

Announcing this, Dr Sriparna B Barooah, granddaughter of the late Dr Bhubaneswar Barooah and Induprabha Barooah, explained the mission and vision of the trust, and recalled the selfless contribution of the late Dr Barooah.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Abhijit Hazarika, grandson of the late Dr Borooah, mentioned that the discussion would also meander through a number of thought-provoking issues which affect a lay person in life.

On one side is the exhilaration in diagnosing the rarest and the most inconceivable medical conditions, and on the other the gnawing despair of the patient to actually understand his condition and be directed without any inconvenience to the right place, he said, pointing out that experts taking part in the panel discussion would also deliberate on these issues.

On the panel would be Srimanta Sankaradeva University of Medical Sciences Vice-Chancellor Dr UC Sarma, GNRC Group of Hospitals CMD Dr NC Borah, educationist and administrator Shantikam Hazarika and senior journalist Samudra Gupta Kashyap. The panel discussion, which will be held in the NEDFi House auditorium, will be moderated by Simanta Das, an entrepreneur in healthcare.
