GUWAHATI, July 20 - The Department of Communication and Journalism of the Gauhati University (GU), along with other departments, today mourned the untimely demise of Dr Anamika Ray, Assistant Professor, Department of Communication and Journalism, GU, who passed away at a private hospital in New Delhi yesterday.
In a condolence meeting held today at the Department of Communication and Journalism, GU, Chandan Kumar Goswami, Head of the Department (in-charge) paid floral tributes at the photograph of Dr Ray and lit earthen lamps. Various staff members of GU as well as former and current students of the department were present on the meeting.
President of the Gauhati University Teachers� Association (GUTA), Prof Jogen Chandra Kalita, and general secretary Prof Jagadish Chandra Sarma, deeply condoled her sudden demise.
Apart from being a faculty member of the Department of Communication and Journalism, GU, Dr Ray was also associated with various educational institutes. Apart from serving as a full-time faculty member in the Dr Bhupen Hazarika Centre for Mass communication and Journalism, EDC Cotton College, and the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism, Sikkim Central University, she also rendered her services as a guest faculty in various institutes such as Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), Krishna Kanta Handiqui State Open University (KKHSOU), Dibrugarh University, Tezpur University, NIOS, Nagpur University and Rajasthan University.
